The Bluebird transcends language to deliver a poignant narrative of the immigrant experience. The production is inspired by Charles Bukowski's poem The Bluebird, the performer Buba Basishvili's personal immigration story, and the experiences of innumerable others who have left their homes for other lands. “There’s a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out,” opens the first line of Bukowski’s poem, “...I only let him out at night sometimes, when everybody’s asleep.”
