When the face is hidden, the body must speak. Mask work invites performers to listen differently, move with intention, and embrace joyful, courageous play.

Discover the transformative power of mask in this six-week introduction to physical performance and character creation. Through neutral mask, found-object masks, and Commedia dell’Arte traditions, participants will explore how masks unlock imagination, reveal physical expression, and inspire fully embodied characters.

Through movement exercises, improvisation, character exploration, and ensemble work, students will develop greater physical awareness, expressive range, and stage presence.

Whether you're a theatre artist, clown, educator, storyteller, dancer, or simply curious about physical performance, this class offers a welcoming space to deepen your creative practice. Ideal for beginners discovering mask work for the first time, as well as experienced performers looking to revisit foundational techniques and sharpen their skills.

Participants will have the opportunity to share work-in-progress discoveries in an optional informal studio sharing on Tuesday, September 8.
